Febuary Update.

February 17th, 2009

After Russia I went back to Chamonix where it had been snowing since I left. I got some stupid streptococci infection a few days before I headed back so had to take antibiotics and keep the fever down. The conditions we had in the Chamonix valley were too good, there was no way I could stay in so I was out riding with the boys everyday and it was worth the gamble on my form. Soon after the foern wind came and the lifts where closed, this gave me time to take some days off the mountain and get strong again before the comp’ in Chamonix.

The morning of the comp, for some reason my alarm didn’t wake me..so when I woke up at 09:30 I was really stressed about not be in time to ride. And I also had to decide where to ride before heading up to the start. With no breakfast or coffee I basically ran to the mountain as my car was in the garage. I was pi$$ed off and did not feel good at all about doing the comp, but offcourse I hiked up to my start and tried to get pepped up. So what can I say. I did my best comp run ever and it couldn’t have been a better turnaround from how I felt in the morning. Sticking all of my tree cliffs and skiing fast I could climb to the top of the podium downtown in Chamonix that evening. I was so happy and still am, it felt really good to see that I could ski the same way in a comp that I do when I am out riding with the boys.

Right now I am stuck inside a nice hotel in Switzerland waiting for the blue window to come so we hopefully can ride the Engadin Invitational here tomorrow. To be honest I was quite happy when they had to delay it one day, cause I really needed a day off to sleep and relax. The face here is super cool and it’s the main reason I here here so I hope we are on tomorrow!

I will be heading back to Chamonix in a few days before I take off to California for the next stop of the FWT.

More soon, Ane.

“Hi, great start to the preseason, skiing in Chamonix with powder for two weeks. I love riding again and this have been a kick-ass start to 2009!

I feel very good, with a lot of training and playing since end of season in May I am ready to give all I have this season. The combination of different activities, such as downhill biking, surfing, climbing combined with some more knowledge about nutrition has contributed to me feeling stronger than ever and i am really looking forward to the business end of the season. I will play around the Chamonix area until the very last moment with some of the local riders and as always; Fred (Syversen) and Karsten (Gefle) whilst testing out my new Dynastar skis and get ready for the comps. The World Tour kickoff in Sochi, Russia, where the Olympics will take place in 2014 has become the focus on my attention and I have been told that they already have two meters of snow so it looks good for the comp.”

Nearly no visa………quick stop Paris.

“It was super stressful, but Paris is a beautiful City so it helped. We were running between the Norwegian/French Embassy and the French/Russian Embassy. The Embassies were due to close at lunchtime and with 10mins to spare the documents we were waiting for came through by fax. I felt so relieved when the stamp finally hit the paper and I was free to enjoy Paris, the capital of my adopted nation. France is offering me so much right now, my Sponsors ‘Dynastar’ are French, I am based in Chamonix as much as i can be, and my friends are now the locals there. It’s a great feeling and it makes me excited to travel more to meet new people.”
