Following the success of the first Freeride World Tour Juniors in 2011, the adventure will continue in 2012 with three Juniors events in Chamonix, Fieberbrunn and Verbier.  In general, the format will be the same with a weekend dedicated to Freeride consisting of educational workshops on day one and a competition on day two.

So what's new in 2012?

1. One unique age category for Junior riders (14 - 17 years old) and a maximum number of participants capped at 75 per event.  This is to: a) maximise security for the riders and b) facilitate a smoother running of the competition.  The competitions are open to male and female riders both skiers and snowboarders.
2. In order to grow the profile of the Freeride Juniors, we will set up a World Ranking based upon the results from the three events. In parallel, all participants will be licensed along similar lines to the pro and FWQ riders.
3. Juniors events will be attributed the same number of points as two-star FWQ events. This means that juniors who reach their 18th birthday and thus can't compete the following year will see their name and points already won transferred to the FWQ classification. This will ensure they are classified in the seeding list which ultimately opens the door to the elite level FWT tour.
4. Any Junior reaching the age of 18 during the season will be allowed to continue participating in the Juniors events for that year.
5. All Juniors must take part in the first day of security workshops. However, if having already participated once e.g. in Chamonix, Juniors will not be required to re-attend the workshops at the second or third stops but will instead Freeride under the supervision of a guide or pro rider.
6. Event sign up will happen uniquely and directly on-line under the registration section.
7. If weather/snow conditions prevent the elite competition taking place on day one and the Juniors on day two (or vice versa), then the organisers will put in place a specific Juniors team to ensure the Juniors competition takes place the same day as the elite level competition.

 

This year, there will be 3 junior competitions: 

-Chamonix: 21st & 22nd of Januray 2012   

-Fieberbrunn: 10th & 11th of March 2012    

-Verbier: 24th & 25th of March 2012

Suite au succès remporté par la première édition des Freeride Juniors by Dakine, le Freeride World Tour poursuit l’expérience en 2012. Afin de répondre au mieux aux besoins des participants et aux contraintes logistiques observées lors de la première édition, quelques améliorations seront apportées à l’édition 2012. Le format général des événements restera le même avec, au programme du week-end, une journée de sensibilisation au freeride et une journée de compétition.

Principales nouveautés 2012:

1. Une catégorie d’âge unique (14 - 17 ans) et un nombre de participants limité à 75  par évènement afin d’offrir un service course professionnel et une sécurité optimale. Les compétitions restent ouvertes aux filles et aux garçons en ski et en snowboard
2. Mise en place d’un « World Ranking » regroupant les résultats des 3 évènements (Chamonix, Fieberbrunn, Verbier) afin d’accroitre la visibilité sportive des Freeride  Juniors. En parallèle, tous les participants devront être licenciés au même titre que les pro-rider et participants aux Freeride World Qualifiers.
3. Les événements Junior reçoivent le même nombre de points que les FWQ 2*. Ainsi les Juniors ayant atteint leur 18^ème année, qui ne pourront donc plus intégrer le Tour Junior de l’année suivante, verront leur nom et leurs points transférés sur le classement FWQ. Ceci leur permettra d’avoir un classement sur la seeding list, leur ouvrant ainsi les portes du Tour Elite.
4. Un Junior atteignant l’âge de 18 ans en milieu de saison aura la possibilité de terminer la saison en cours sur les épreuves Junior.
5. Tous les Juniors doivent obligatoirement participer à la journée ateliers sécurité du premier évent de l’année auquel ils participent. Lors du 2^ème et/ou 3^ème événement, ces Juniors feront plus de freeride encadré par leur guide.
6. Simplification du système d’inscription et inscriptions on-line dans la section registration.
7. En cas de contrainte météo, les équipes et les moyens techniques seront doublés afin de pouvoir organiser les  compétitions Juniors et Elites du Freeride World Tour le même jour

Nachdem sich die erste Ausführung der Freeride Junior Series by Dakine als grosser Erfolg erwiesen hatte, wird die Freeride World Tour den eingeschlagenen Weg fortsetzen. Um die Bedürfnisse der Teilnehmer besser abzudecken und um einige logistische Herausforderungen effizienter meistern zu können, werden für die Saison 2012 diverse Neuerungen eingeführt. Das Grundformat der Events jedoch bleibt bestehen und beinhaltet weiterhin einen Ausbildungstag und einen Wettkampftag pro Wochenende.

Hauptänderungen 2012:

1. Eine Alterskategorie (14-17 Jahre) und eine auf 75 limitierte Teilnehmerzahl pro Event um eine professionelle Betreuung und Sicherheit zu garantieren. Die Wettkämpfe sind für Frauen und Männer sowohl mit Ski als auch Snowboard zugänglich.
2. Einführung eines « World Ranking », das die Resultate der drei Events in Chamonix, Fieberbrunn und Verbier berücksichtigt um die sportliche Relevanz der Junioren zu stärken. Gleichzeitig müssen alle Teilnehmer lizenziert sein genauso wie die Pro-Rider und Teilnehmer der Freeride World Qualifiers.
3. Die Junioren Wettkämpfe erhalten dieselbe Punktklassifizierung wie ein FWQ 2* Wettkampf. Punkte und Namen der Junioren, welche das 18. Altersjahr erreicht haben, und somit im darauffolgenden Jahr nicht mehr an Juniorenwettkämpfen teilnehmen dürfen, werden automatisch in das FWQ Ranking übertragen. Dadurch erscheinen sie auf der Seeding List und die Türen zur Elite Tour stehen somit offen.
4. Un Junior atteignant l’âge de 18 ans en milieu de saison aura la possibilité de terminer la saison en cours sur les épreuves Junior. Wird ein Junior während der laufenden Saison 18. Jahre alt, darf er die angefangene Tour dennoch bei den Junioren beenden.
5. Die Teilnahme am Sicherheits-Workshop ist für alle Junioren obligatorisch am ersten Wettbwerb des Jahres an dem sie teilnehmen. Am zweiten und/oder dritten Event an dem ein Junior teilnimmt, wird er/sie vermehrt mit einem Bergführer freeriden.
6. Das Anmeldeverfahren wird durch Onlineformulare vereinfacht unter registration.
7. Bei schlechten Witterungsverhältnissen, werden der Betreuerstab und die technischen Hilfsmittel verdoppelt um die Durchführung der Junioren und Elite Wettkämpfe der Freeride World Tour am selben Tag zu ermöglichen.
