2024 Crested Butte IFSA FWT Challenger

Crested Butte has long been renowned as a top-class adventure destination, so it is only fitting that freeride athletes will make their way there this year. The resort has over 500 acres of double-black diamond terrain – as well as ‘Rambo’, considered the steepest lift-serviced tree run in North America – meaning it is a genuine mountain for expert skiers and thrill seekers. With the main peak rising up over 3,600 meters, cold storms pile up the snow in winter, ensuring a decent snow base into the spring months.

Well-placed in the heart of Colorado, Crested Butte has an abundance of steep, technical terrain perfect for freeride competition. Beyond the resort boundary, vast swathes of backcountry await adrenaline seekers with exhilarating descents and breathtaking views. Off the slopes, the old mining mountain town offers an unforgettable mountain experience, laden with charm. Crested Butte has all the ingredients for a successful FWT Challenger event, and riders in Region 2 will kick off their campaigns here.
