Competition Confirmed: Georgia Pro Rescheduled for Saturday, March 1st on Kakhiani Face

After delays due to weather and snow conditions, the Georgia Pro is officially set to take place on March 1st, returning to the iconic Kakhiani face in Tetnuldi after the incredible performances of last year.

After a few days of waiting and extensive safety assessments, the FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance is thrilled to confirm that the Georgia Pro will take place on Saturday, March 1st, returning to the Kakhiani face as originally planned. Despite efforts to secure Kaseb—which was initially considered a safer alternative due to better early conditions—stabilization work caused significant sliding, making it unfit for competition. Following multiple weather-related delays, organizers have determined that Kakhiani now provides the safest and best conditions to host the event.

With Kakhiani now deemed competition-ready, riders can look forward to an intense battle on a venue that has already delivered some of the most memorable moments in FWT history. The live broadcast will begin at 12:00 PM Local Time (GET) / 9:00 AM CET, with the first rider dropping at 12:15 PM GET / 9:15 AM CET.

Kakhiani – A TecHNical Freeride Challenge in Changing Conditions

Kakhiani, located in Tetnuldi, remains one of the most demanding and exhilarating freeride venues on the FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance. Sitting at 3,170 meters, the face features a 330-meter vertical drop with a North-Northwest exposure, typically ensuring excellent snow quality. However, rapidly changing weather conditions have added a new layer of complexity for riders.

Overnight, strong winds of 40 to 60 km/h have compacted the snow, creating a firmer surface that will allow riders to stay on top rather than sink in. The -25°C temperatures for both the air and snow have left the snowpack extremely dry and grippy, meaning riders will need to maintain speed to navigate smoothly. As a result, expect to see more direct, fast-paced lines as riders adapt to the challenging conditions.

With more wind expected before the competition, the snowpack is likely to become even more compact by morning, further reducing the chances of riders breaking through the surface on landings. This will allow for smoother, more controlled descents, but will also demand strong momentum and precision to avoid getting caught up in the snow’s resistance.

Last year, Kakhiani delivered some of the season’s boldest performances, and with these unique and evolving conditions, this year’s competition is shaping up to be another thrilling test of skill, creativity, and adaptability.
