Competition Confirmed: YETI Xtreme Verbier by Honda Set for Thursday, March 20

The grand finale of the FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance is ready to unfold on the legendary Bec des Rosses.

  • Competition moved up to Thursday, March 20, to ensure the best possible conditions
  • The Bec des Rosses will feature three starts—two on the Petit Bec and one half way down Central Couloir
  • Dropping order: Snowboard Men, Ski Men, Ski Women, Snowboard Women—each category starting in reverse ranking order for maximum suspense

The YETI Xtreme Verbier by Honda, the highly anticipated FWT Finals, will take place on Thursday, March 20, as organizers aim to secure the best possible conditions for the season’s ultimate showdown. The Bec des Rosses, freeride’s most demanding venue, will once again push the world’s best riders to their limits as they battle for the 2025 FWT Champion titles.

The Bec des Rosses: A True Freeride Challenge

This year’s competition will feature three starts instead of the traditional summit start. Due to a lack of sufficient snow at the top, caused by low precipitation throughout the season and strong northeast winds that stripped the upper face, riders will drop from:

  • Two starts on the Petit Bec – offering highly technical, steep lines with exposed terrain.
  • One start half way down the central couloir – leading into the heart of the Bec, where riders must navigate chutes and natural airs.

Despite these adjustments, the Bec des Rosses remains as extreme as ever. With reverse ranking order in each category, the highest-ranked riders will drop last, building tension until the final runs.

About the Bec

Freeride is about adapting to the mountain. The Bec des Rosses remains a formidable challenge, and we will see world-class performances despite the altered start positions. The fight for the title will be intense!

Snow Conditions: A High-Stakes Surface

Riders will face 20 cm of cold, light powder on top of hardpack in some areas and sugary snow in others. With mixed snow conditions, athletes will need to read the terrain carefully, balancing aggression and control to put down winning runs.

Xtreme Verbier Xpress: 40% Off Ski Passes for Who Travels by Train

To minimize the event’s carbon footprint, the FWT is encouraging fans to travel by train, offering a 40% discount on ski passes in partnership with Swiss Olympic’s Climate Fund and myclimate.

How It Works:

  1. Take the train to Verbier
  2. Show your ticket or General Pass at the FWT booth in Le Châble to receive a 40% discount voucher
  3. Redeem your voucher at the ticket office and save on your ski pass

This offer is valid on March 22, 23, and competition day.
