2025 Verbier Freeride Week Highlights – Recap
A Thrilling Start to the Season
The Verbier Freeride Week 2025 delivered an action-packed start to the freeride season, bringing together Qualifier riders for an intense series of competitions in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
With fluctuating conditions, finding the right competition faces was a challenge, but in true freeride spirit, the event adapted, making the most of the available weather windows. Riders battled it out on technical terrain, pushing their limits to earn valuable ranking points early in the season.
The week began on January 7th with the Freeride World Qualifier 2* event, marking the first competition of the season. With 96 riders eager to put their skills to the test, the event was confirmed on the Rocky Garden venue in Verbier—a terrain well-known for its mix of technical lines and playful features.
Despite the early-season conditions, riders wasted no time delivering impressive runs. From fluid, stylish descents to bold cliff drops, the level of competition was high. The podium finishers set the standard for the week ahead, showing that this season’s FWQ contenders mean business.
After a period of uncertain weather forecasts, the Freeride World Qualifier 3* event finally took place on February 12th in Bruson—a venue chosen for its stable conditions and solid snow coverage.
What made this event unique was that it ran on the same day as the Junior 2* competition, making it a massive day for riders and organizers alike. With 211 competitors across both events and three judging panels working simultaneously, it was a logistical challenge that ran seamlessly.
Riders delivered an incredible level of performance, throwing down creative, fast, and confident runs in front of the judges. The tight competition made for an exciting battle, with each category showcasing a mix of technical riding, big sends, and stylish freeride flow.
